Mont Marte Acrylic Medium - Crackle Paste 250ml

Mont Marte Crackle Paste can be used to create interesting textures and crackle effects on your artwork surface. This opaque medium has a white base and can be applied to canvas, wood and other surfaces.

Once applied Crackle Paste cracks as it dries, creating fissures and a web of cracks on the painting surface. When fully dried paint can be applied over the top of the now textured surface.

Can be applied to a range of surfaces provided they have some level of absorbency so that the medium can bind to the surface. The medium can be tinted with acrylic paint, however, this may affect the level of cracks once dry.

Directions:

• Apply a consistent, thin layer of crackle paste to your surface with a flat taklon brush and wait till dry before painting

• For more cracks, apply a thin coat of acrylic paint to surface first to allow paste to sit on a surface that moves underneath the paste (allowing for more cracks)

• Drying time 2-3hrs (may vary)

Handy Hints:

• For best results paint the crackle onto a smooth, glossy surface
  Works better on large areas because the paste has more surface area to shrink back to and crackle

• For smaller crackle effect, apply a thin layer of crackle and wait till dry

• For larger crackle effect, apply a thin layer of PVA glue to the surface and wait at least 20-30mins before applying crackle paste

• An even undercoat of glossy acrylic is ideal for timber surfaces

• Note: If product is applied too quickly it can become 'immovable', (impacting the shrinking of the paste), stopping the cracks from properly forming

• We recommend experimenting and testing this medium before applying to artwork or project.
