Bostik Blu Tack 75g

Developed in 1979 in the UK, this famous reusable temporary adhesive was originally white, but consumer research showed concerns that children may mistake it for chewing gum, and blue colouring was added, giving it its household name.

Blu Tack has been manufactured at the Thomastown plant in Victoria, Australia since 1979.  

Did you know: before applying, break off a small piece of Blu Tack and roll it in your hands to warm it, making it tacky.

About the Brand

In 1889, the Boston Blacking Company was founded in Chelsea, Massachusetts, USA.

A producer of leather colourings and dyes for the shoemaking industry, the company grew and in the 1920’s the Boston Blacking Company was established in 12 countries including Australia.

Several products were launched under the Bostik brand as early as the 1940’s, with the business taking on the Bostik company name in the 1960’s.

In 1980, Bostik was taken over, but the Bostik brand was kept as a stand-alone brand. 

In 2015 Bostik was acquired by Arkema and has been the ‘Adhesives Solutions’ segment of Arkema ever since.

Since 1889 Bostik has patented over 9,000 technologies, covering everything from aerospace interior adhesives to Blu Tack^®, growing from a local dye manufacturer to a global industry leader, and ‘Blu Tack’ has become a household name.
